Florida Gov. Charlie Crist recently appointed St. Lucie County’s 911 Coordinator Carolyn Dill-Collier to serve on the statewide E911 Board.
Established by the Legislature in 2007, the E911 Board was created to help implement a statewide E911 system for wireless and non-wireless voice communication users. The E911 Board’s primary function is to administer the funds derived from a monthly fee on each subscriber with a Florida billing address (place of primary use). The governor appoints four members who are county 911 coordinators and four members from the telecommunications industry. The E911 Board meets monthly with the goal of making Florida a national leader in E911 services.
Dill-Collier’s appointment will last until November 2013, and she’ll be representing all the medium-sized counties in the state. She has worked for St. Lucie County’s Public Safety Department for 32 years and currently oversees the County-wide 911 phone system, which handles roughly 490,000 emergency calls annually for the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, St. Lucie County Fire District and Fort Pierce and Port St. Lucie Police Departments.
