At its regular meeting held Monday, Dec. 21, the Port St. Lucie City Council approved the Westmoreland Boulevard milling and resurfacing stimulus project.
According to officials in the city’s Engineering Department, Lynch Contractor will have crews onsite in early January, with the first lane/road closure expected on Monday, Jan. 25.
The city is in the process of placing Variable Message Boards (VMB’s) along the corridor to alert residents and drivers of the closures. The first closure on Monday, Jan. 25, will be in the southeast-bound direction, beginning at Cambridge Drive and ending at the Morningside Boulevard roundabout. It is estimated this closure will last approximately one week.
Once this first segment is complete, the paving operation will continue to move towards U.S. 1, using the segments between each roundabout as a stopping point, until they reach the last roundabout at Bakersfield Street. Once they have reached the end of the corridor, they will turn around and head back towards Port St. Lucie Boulevard, using the same segment approach, until they reach the end of the project at Cambridge Drive. The contractor has an 84-day timeline for completion of this project.
