The organizers and producers of an annual Memorial Day Soccer Tournament have announced that Port St. Lucie’s McChesney Park was chosen as the site for this year’s event, scheduled for Saturday, May 29 through Monday, May 31.
William McChesney Park is the home of the Mako Soccer Club. The tournament will be open to all U.S. Soccer Federation teams, and will include many out-of-state teams, such as those with the Florida Youth Soccer Association, American Youth Soccer Organization and U.S. Club Soccer teams.
The Mako Soccer Club, considered the largest in the area with more than 1,200 members, is based at McChesney Park, thanks to the foresight and approval of Port St. Lucie officials. In 2005, the city doubled the size of McChesney Park, which now boasts six soccer fields with lights on 24.5 acres.
McChesney Park is located at 1585 S.W. Cashmere Blvd. To view the park’s other amenities, as well as directions to the park, visit http://www.cityofpsl.com/parks_recreation/parks/mcchesney-park.html.
