Mets Spring Training Opener

The NY Mets played the first Spring Training game of the season today against the Atlanta Braves, despite cloudy skies over Tradition Field.  The Mets bested the Braves 4-2.

Ike Davis and Ruben Tejada led a team filled with Mets prospects to victory in the 2010 Spring Training opener.

Davis started the scoring, roping a double off Jesse Chavez and scoring on a single from Jason Pridie. to start a three-run rally in the fifth inning. Ruben Tejada added an RBI single to cap the three run inning. Russ Adams topped off the Mets scoring with a home run in the eighth.

Nelson Figueroa started for the Mets allowing no runs on two hits and two walks over two innings and striking out the side in the second to work his way out of a second and third, no one out, jam.

Elmer Dessens allowed a run on two hits, before leaving the game after being hit in the leg. He was replaced by Bobby Livingston, who got the win throwing 2.2 strong innings, striking out four. Bobby Parnell and Pedro Feliciano each threw well, Parnell allowing a run on two hits in two innings of work striking out two, and Feliciano striking out two in a scoreless inning.

Ryota Igarashi notched the save with an impressive scoreless ninth inning allowing just a walk in his first appearance.
